We are catching up on sharing our couples stories and all that is been going on here at I do, I do! HQ.
Jamichael and Quenton had a lovely wedding at The Hyatt Wynfrey Hotel with an amazing vendor team–thank you to these wonderful vendors who made the day possible: J.Mikado Photography, Lindsay Kessler Designs, Sweet Magnolia Cakes, DJ Jenny and On Site Productions. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Jamichael & Quenton
How did you meet?
Although we both attended the same high school, we didn’t actually begin to talk to one another until a mutual friend introduced us one day. I had recently broken up with my boyfriend and our friend (the best man, Ellis) mentioned it to him. He expressed interest in me. Ellis then called me and told me about him. But I wasn’t interested at all. Quenton eventually wrote me himself on Facebook and I didn’t want to be mean so I responded. The rest is history… 🙂
What has been your favorite date together?
He surprised me with tickets to the Beyonce & Jay-Z On the Run Tour! Anyone who knows me knows the love I have for Yonce’ so I was beyond excited. We made an entire trip out of it. He took me to New Orleans and we visited the French Quarter, ate a lot of seafood, visited Bourbon Street and danced the night away.
What was the proposal story?
It was New Year’s Eve and Quenton said he wanted to go out. He said he wanted to take me to see the fireworks show at the Vulcan. Since I love the Vulcan (i’m a sucker for views) I was excited about it. I was on the phone with my friends and we were discussing plans for the night and I mentioned that Quent and I were going to the Vulcan to see fireworks. They were telling me that they never knew that the Vulcan did fireworks and that I needed to double check before making a trip out there. For some reason I didn’t check, I just continued to get ready. My cousin decided to go with us which wasn’t necessarily unusual because he and Quent are close. So we get to the Vulcan and buy our tickets and I can’t wait to get to the top so I can see my favorite view. But when I got up there, I realized I had forgotten that the floor had holes in it and I had on very skinny heels. I said I wasn’t going to let that stop me so I took off my boots and walked out there in my socks and it was cold! I was standing against the rail just enjoying the view and I turned around and Quenton was down on one knee with a ring and my cousin was recording. The only thing I could think to say was, “I have on socks!”. LOL!! Of course I said yes. 🙂 Later on, while walking to the car, I said wait a minute, we didn’t get to see the fireworks show. So Quent says, “You still haven’t figured out that the show isn’t happening? I just said that to get you here.” I was like, OHHHHH, good one.
What is your favorite thing to do together?
Take walks together and go out to dinner.
What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
I can’t wait to see his reaction when he first sees me that day.
These love birds are now enjoying the married life–congrats you two!
