Around here we pretty much love any party. So of course we love an engagement party! It is a great chance to announce the couple’s new chapter of their lives, and celebrate this exciting time in their life. You certainly do not have to have an engagement party but in my opinion the more parties the better 😉
Traditionally the bride’s family hosts but it is great to include the groom’s family as well. The purpose is for your two families to get to know each other & celebrate.
The engagement party can be totally different from your wedding. It can be laid back and casual or as formal as you’d like. However some etiquette will still hold true no matter what. We love this checklist from Real Simple to make sure all your i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed. Of course you can always hire a wedding planner or event planner to help you ensure it will be fab.
As we always do, we love beautiful paper and you should include it in your engagement party. Make the invites fun, bar menus, favors, signature drink tags, banners–you name it! Slap those new initials on anything that doesn’t move. I love this invite that our very own Katie designed for a New Year’s Eve Engagement shindig.
Hope this helps as you plan your upcoming engagement party. Don’t forget I Do I Do! Wedding Planning can help you plan the perfect engagement soiree too!
