Elizabeth & Patrick’s Love Story: Birmingham, Alabama

May 12, 2016 | 0 comments

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We have a double wedding weekend this weekend–Ah! We are so excited for our precious couples as they begin their lives as husband and wife. First up is Elizabeth & Patrick. Elizabeth is the most elegant, classic, put together woman I have ever met. She has this lovely calm that has remained throughout the planning process and I have enjoyed that about her. Patrick is a very involved groom which has been fun to get to know him well throughout the planning as most of the time I don’t even meet the groom until rehearsal night!

We are thrilled to work with great vendors this weekend who are making it all happen: The Birmingham Zoo, Happy Catering Company, Beth Fleischman Photography, It’s Your Day Florals, Magic Muffins, Cahaba River Strings, EastCost Entertainment, On Site Productions, and Castleberry Videography.

Hope you enjoy Elizabeth & Patrick’s story!

Elizabeth & Patrick

How did you meet?

We met at UAB through our involvement in greek life. We were friends for over a year when I realized that I saw a future with Patrick but I was convinced it would never happen. Little did I know, he actually felt the same way. Eventually, we realized our mutual affection for each other and we started dating on July 4, 2010.

What has been your favorite date together?

In 2013, we decided to take a weekend trip to Mobile for my birthday which was during Mardi Gras. We had a great time together enjoying the festivities  – I had no idea I would be moving there 6 months later for graduate school. The fact that we had created memories in Mobile together made the move somewhat easier.

What was the proposal story?

Patrick visited Mobile in April of 2015 and I thought he might propose that weekend. On Saturday, we enjoyed Earth Day Festivities in Fairhope, walked down a pier overlooking the Mobile Bay, and enjoyed a really great lunch together. After he didn’t propose on Saturday, I had convinced myself it wouldn’t happen at all that weekend. On Sunday, we were running late to have brunch with friends when I asked Patrick to text our friends to let them know we would be late. Patrick let me finish getting ready and when I walked out of the bathroom he asked “Do you want a reason to be late?” Confused, I turned my head and he asked me to marry him. I didn’t respond, so he asked again. I said yes.

What is your favorite thing to do together?

We’ve always loved attending church together but since we’ve gotten engaged we began premarital counseling as well as a nearly/newlywed class at The Church at Brook Hills where we’re both members. Investing in our relationship with God together has only strengthened us as a couple, especially when we were long distance. We plan to start a small group for married millennials once we’re married through the Church at Brook Hills.

What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?

The ceremony. Our vows were the first mutual decision we made with regard to the wedding and we can’t wait to share them with our family and friends.
